 i feel like it girls even tho yes they do not have the impact, or the prestige of a legend i still feel like if you want an accurate representation of what was popular in beauty and fashion of a certain year or decade you NEED to look at the it girls of that year, you cannot only look at the legends. If you only look at the legends you will just get a broad idea of what people liked and wanted, it wont be fully accurate. legends are timeless, it girls are not, they are VERY much a product of their time. which is why if you want to know what was considered cool in idk 2003 you have to look at the it girls at the time like mischa barton, you cant look at britney spears (a legend) and say she is an accurate representation of what people liked in 2003, shes way more timeless then mischa so you'd be making a broad generalization but not truly seeing what people ACTUALLY wanted

think of it like this, legends are like trends that became apart of the culture, they started out as a trend but now its an everyday normal thing its not trendy its cultural, its here to stay

it girls are like fads, ppl were obsessed with it but then moved on after a few years 

its like if someone said in 2015 loreal was super popular and every girl wanted it, like its not wrong but not super accurate. its more accurate to say kylie lipkits were super popular in 2015 and every girl wanted it.
